Lesson 68

Dates:

1.      The date of preparation:  Mar. 23rd

2.      The date of teaching:    Mar. 27th

 

Teaching aims:

1. Review the words of toys : bus, car, plane, teddy bear, pinwheel, doll, ball, train

2. To enable the students to ask about the positions of the toys using the following sentence patterns: “What’s on the desk?” “ The TV is on the desk.” “Where is the chair?” “ It’s next to the box.”

3. Finish the exercise of lesson 68-----Listen and stick.

 

Key points and Teaching difficulty:

1. Key points: the words of toys----- bus, car, plane, teddy bear, pinwheel, doll, ball, train

2. Teaching difficulties:  To differ “doll” from” ball”

                      Ask and answer in pairs. 

Teaching aids:

1.  Word cards

2.   Tape recorder and the tape

3.    Multi-media player

 

Teaching procedure:

1. (Warm-up)

   T:  Greeting: Good afternoon , class !

  S:          Good afternoon, Miss Huang.

   T:  Glad to meet you again. How are you?

  S:  Fine, thank you. And you?

   T. I’m fine.

(Sing a chant of unit 11 together.)

2. Presentation

  Review the words of the toys:

 T: “Everyone please look here. You’re going to see several pictures. Speak out the English words as loudly as you can. Let’s see who the best is?”

T: What’s this?       

S: It’s a bus.

T: What’s this?       

S: It’s a train.

 

Show a box and ask some questions:

T: “Guess, What’s in the box?”

T: “Yes, it’s a teddy bear. Where is the teddy bear? The teddy bear is in the box.”

(Write down the word “in” on the blackboard.)

T: “Now look, where is the teddy bear?” “It’s on the desk.”

(Write down the word “on” on the blackboard.)

Lead in the prepositions in the same way: in, on, under, behind, next to

3.      Practice

Play a game:

Teacher speaks several sentences and asks two students to put the things in the right places.

T: The doll is next to the window.

T: The pinwheel is in the box.

(The students, who can do it quickly and correctly, can win a little prize.)

 

Ask the students to watch the screen and answer the questions:

“What’s in the box?”

“What’s on the table?”

“What’s behind the closet?”

After answering the questions, ask them what the meaning is?

Ask two students to practice the sentences in pairs. One asks and the other answers, then change their roles.

S1: What’s on my head?

S2: A book.

S2: What’s behind the pencil case?

S1: A ruler.

Ask several pairs to come to the front to give everyone a show.

 

Listen to the tape and check if they stick the things on the right places.

“The ball is under the desk.”

“The pinwheel is on the desk.”

“The toy bus is behind the box.”

 “The teddy bear is on the bed.”

“The train is next to the chair.”

“The doll is in the box.”

“The plane is on the TV.”

“The boat is on the desk.”

“The picture is on the wall.”

Listen to the tape again and repeat the sentences together.

Ask two students to practice the sentences in pairs:

S1: What’s under the desk?

S2: The ball is under the desk.

S3: Where is the pinwheel?

S4: It’s on the desk.

 

Show a flash cartoon and ask the students to describe the room using the senteces they have just learned.

S1: “This is Lily’s bedroom. The lamp is on the desk. The bed is next to the window.”

Encourage the Ss to make up as many sentences as they can.

Homework

 Listen to the tape and repeat the sentences for 15 minutes.
